If you’re anything like me, you love Jesus and you want your children to know Him too—but some days, it feels impossible to figure out where to start. Between breakfast chaos, school drop-offs, toys scattered across the floor, and the endless “mom duties,” it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or spiritually unqualified. But here’s the beautiful truth: children understand faith in the most simple and pure ways. Sometimes, it’s in the tiniest moments that they truly grasp His love.
The other day, my three-year-old put her hand over her chest and said, “Mommy… I found Jesus.” My heart literally stopped. She said, “Jesus is in my heart.”
Moments like that remind me that teaching your child about Jesus doesn’t require perfect words, long lessons, or a theology degree. It’s about presence, love, and simple routines.
Here’s what has worked in our home—and can help you too.

1. Start Earlier Than You Think
Even as infants, children notice and absorb what we model. Reading Bible stories, singing “Jesus Loves Me,” or softly talking about God during quiet moments plants seeds that will grow over time.

Instead of overwhelming little ones with complicated language, keep prayer conversational:

- Everyday moments: Gratitude for rainbows, sunshine, pets, or happy surprises.
Even tiny prayers matter. The goal is presence and connection, not perfection.

Growing up, many of us experienced more rules than relationship. In our home, we focus on love and connection:
- Talking about how much Jesus loves them.
- Letting them know He is always with them.
- Reading short children’s Bible stories together. We personally love The Beginner’s Bible. The stories are short enough for a 2-year-old’s attention span but deep enough to spark those ‘Jesus in my heart’ moments.
Faith grows when it’s felt in love, not pressured by rules.

Your spiritual health matters too. Even 10–15 minutes of personal devotion each morning sets the tone for the day and models consistency for your children.
